An Open Letter To The Past Me

Dear Self,

Happy Birthday to the past me. Year 27 was rough, but you got through it. All the tears, struggles, and pain made you into the person you are at this very moment. YOU ARE RESILIENT, and that’s what I love about you. No matter the situation, you handle it with a sense of calmness and grace. You pushed through all of the travelings to Mobile and Atlanta to help regain your sight. There were times when you were down, and you felt really low, but you bounced back every time. That “bounce back spirit” is AMAZING. During that season, you knew God heard your every prayer. He taught you how to wait. He taught you how to be patient. He was with you as you fell from the top of the hill down to the bottom. There, with faith, you learned how to climb back up again. The climb wasn’t easy or pleasant, but you kept on climbing. The whole time he was preparing you to receive your answered prayers.

I’m proud of how you’ve handled these past six months. The silent battles you fought, the moments you had to humble yourself, wipe your own tears, and pat yourself on the back were all a part of your climb. I’m here to celebrate your strength because YOU DID THAT. Now, look at you. Within six months, you’ve become a new person, a better person. During this whole time, you thought the journey was helping you to “become,” but the entire time it was about “unbecoming” what wasn’t really you. You had to learn that God was literally placing the right people in your life and taking the wrong ones away. You didn’t fight Him on that move. As a reward for your obedience, he put things in your journey that enriched the final results. Some doors closed in your face, but better doors opened up. You then received more than you asked for or thought possible.

So baby girl, Happy Birthday! Look at you glowing with self-love and becoming a magnet to sound vibrations. I’m so proud of you. Keep shining, beautiful one! You’ve overcome everything that was meant to destroy you. Continue to be fierce, brave, and strong. Create a beautiful place inside of yourself and then begin to expand and build outward.

May God continues to work on you, better you, bless you with growth, and bless you with success. I pray He never lets you lose hope or focus. May you always know His love will never leave you.

Love,

The Future You
